Kevin Eldon given own BBC2 show

"It's Kevin will be produced by the team behind Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle"

The sidekick of a thousand comedy shows Kevin Eldon, whose credits include Big Train, Brass Eye and I'm Alan Partridge, has been given his own show by BBC2.

It's Kevin will be produced by the BBC in-house team behind BBC2's Bafta-winning Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle.

The six-part series will feature sketches, songs, and guest appearances by Eldon's "comedy friends". It's Kevin will air early next year.

The first episode will feature a song and dance number, The Incredible Moose Human, some performance poetry and a slot called Wendy Wilson's White Coat Window on the World of World Wide Wonders, which may or may not become a regular feature.

It's Kevin was commissioned by BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow and Cheryl Taylor, controller, comedy commissioning. Taylor described Eldon as a "very special comedian indeed and we're delighted to have the opportunity to showcase his many talents on BBC2".

Eldon, who has also appeared in Smack the Pony, Nighty Night, Jam, Spaced, Stewart Lee's BBC2 show and Hot Fuzz, said: "I have always liked chaffinches. The money I may receive from this show may well allow me buy more pictures of chaffinches."
