Piercy spills his beans!
Name: James Piercy
Team Supported: Pompey
First Game Attended & it's Abiding Memory:
Notts County at Fratton in February 1991, won 2-1 and went with my dad so we could get tickets for the Tottenham FA Cup tie the following weekend. Abiding memory was ‘isn't live football great'.
Favourite Away Ground:
Maine Road before it was demolished was a pretty special ground. Great support and the PA played some cracking tunes.
Favourite Ever Match:
From a Pompey perspective beating Palace 3-2 at Selhurst in 2002 after going two-down. Paul Merson at his majestic best and Jason Crowe, goal-scoring hero. At the risk of being lynched for ‘massive time-ness' watching last year's Copa Libatadores Semi-Final at the Maracana between Fluminense and Boca was pretty special. Some of the most horrendous defending and goalkeeping I have ever seen but what a game. Fluminense won 3-1 after the first leg at the Bombanera was drawn 2-2 and made the final for the first time in their history. Safe to say the atmosphere was pretty crazy.
Favourite Ever Goal: Baggio's at Italia 1990 or Tardelli's at the 1982 final. Both give me goosebumps when I watch them. Just the passion and the emotion and what football is all about for me.
1 - Gianluigi Buffon
2 - Cafu
3 - Stuart Pearce
4 - Zinedine Zidane
5 - Tony Adams
6 - Franco Baresi
7 - Paul Gascoigne
8 - Robert Prosinecki
9 - Guy Whittingham
10 - Diego Maradona
11 - Juan Roman Riquelme (he'll have 10 + 1) on his shirt.
Manager - Sir Bobby Robson
Hero in Football: Riquelme because I just love the way he plays the game and in an era of athletes and pace, he is an old-style playmaker who seems to make time stand still when he is in control of possession. I would beg, steal and borrow to get him in a Pompey shirt.
What state do you think English Football will be in 10years time?:
Difficult one because at some stage the money has to run out and no doubt there will be a number of recognized clubs doing a Leeds or Nottingham Forest. I would imagine there will be 20 foreign owners running the show and the FA Cup would have further diminished as a respectable competition.
First Single Ever Bought:
Civil War by Guns and Roses. Sorry nothing too embarrassing.

Last Album Bought: Before the Dawn Heals Us - M83.
Desert Island/Isle Of Mann Discs - What 5 Albums would you take?:
1 - DJ Shadow - Entroducing
2 - My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
3 - Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

Hero in Music: Josh Davis (DJ Shadow) or Mani
What state do you think the Music Industry will be in 10years time?:
Hopefully bands will treat albums with the respect they deserve and the download culture of taking one or two songs from a band but ignoring the rest will have bottomed out and calmed down. Alas, I don't think this will be the case.
